The story of Dartronics Inc. begins with our president and founder, Kenneth A. Darrow. Born in Elmira, New York, Ken is the eldest of four siblings. From a young age, he exhibited an insatiable curiosity about the world around him, often taking apart his toys simply to learn how to put them back together. This early fascination with mechanics blossomed throughout his childhood, and by his teenage years, he was already rebuilding car engines. Ken’s story is a testament to the power of curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge, reminding us all that great things often start with a simple question: “How does this work?”
Years later, Kenneth obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Morris County Community College. By 1987, he assumed responsibility for the service department at Closure Systems Inc., a distributor of packaging materials and machinery based in New Jersey. After nine years of observing missed business opportunities among Closure’s clientele, he made the brave decision to start his own company, “Dartronics,“ in 1996.
Throughout the years, Ken cultivated a loyal client base that transitioned with Dartronics to its new basement office. Among these clients, one inquired about the availability of a machine designed to facilitate the feeding of legal documents for serialization with a printer. At that time, such a device was non-existent. In response to this demand, within a span of three months, Ken engineered the required machine independently and successfully sold three units to the client for $50,000 each.
Twenty-eight years later, Dartronics has long since established itself as a leader in innovative customer service within the packaging and manufacturing industry. Ken has evolved the foundation laid by his previous employers by transcending the conventional distributor model to create a service and solutions-oriented enterprise. This organization is supported by a robust team, primarily consisting of engineers and technicians, who are dedicated to enhancing customer experiences and addressing complex industry challenges.
